Kejriwal dismisses allegations against Sisodia

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday came out in full defense of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia over allegations of corruption as another round of confrontation broke out between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. The New Liquor Policy brought by AAP government has triggered the latest row.

Arvind Kejriwal slammed the central government for creating hurdles in progressive work untaken by his government.

Holding a press conference, Kejriwal said,” I have known Manish Sisodia for 22 years and I haven’t met anyone as honest and as patriot as him. The Lieutenant Governor is making false allegations against him (Sisodia)”.

Kejriwal lauded Sisodia for spearheading reforms and modernisation efforts in the public schools of Delhi.

He said, “Earlier you arrested Satyendra Jain who was working for the revival of the health sector. Now you want to arrest Sisodia, who is the Education Minister and is shaping the lives and career of lakhs of children.”

In a no-hold barred attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party led central government, Kejriwal said, ” You are disciples of Savarkar who apologized to Britishers, we are followers of Bhagat Singh who had refused to apologize to the Britisher and chosen to be hanged. We are not afraid of going to jail”.

Earlier on the day the Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena recommended a CBI enquiry against Manish Sisodia, who also holds excise portfolio, for subverting the process to benefit the liquor barons with the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.

The Governor cited the Chief Secretary report which indicted Sisodia for being involved in the corruption.
