Pamela Goswami accuses BJP youth wing leader of hatching a conspiracy against her

In a strange twist to the cocaine recovery case the secretary of the West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Pamela Goswami on Saturday directly accused the leaders of her own organisation of hatching a conspiracy against her.

While being produced before the Alipore court she repeatedly shouted that the leader of Hooghly district of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Rakesh Singh, should be arrested as he had plotted a conspiracy against her. She also demanded a CID probe into the matter. She was clearly heard taking the name of Rakesh Singh several times.

Rakesh, who according to media reports is considered close to BJP’s Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya, denied all the allegations.

Pamela, as reported, was arrested along with another BJYM worker Prabir Kumar Dey, from New Alipore on Friday. The police recovered about 100 gm cocaine from her purse and car.

The BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari sees a sinister design to implicate her and in the process defame the party ahead of the Assembly election. However, some other party leaders appeared to be rather defensive and were heard telling the media that the law would take its own course. There appears to be differences within the party over the Pamela issue.

The Alipore court on Saturday remanded Pamela to police custody till February 25.

Meanwhile, the Congress party had accused the BJP of adopting double standards on Pamela and Rhea Chakravarty case as both involve possession of drug. The party on Saturday demanded thorough probe into the matter so that all those involved in the case could be nabbed.
