Nadda tests positive for Corona, Bengal refuses to send CS, DGP to MHA

Three days after his Bengal trip where he was attacked allegedly by Trinamool Congress workers when he was on way from Kolkata to Diamond Harbour, the BJP President J P Nadda was tested Corona positive. He tweeted: “On getting the initial symptoms of corona, I got the test done and the report came back positive.” He further asked all those who had come into contact with him in the past few days to isolate and get themselves checked.

It needs to be mentioned that all BJP leaders who were part of the convoy were injured in the last week’s attack. The BJP President had then called the attack ‘unprecedented’ and also claimed that the state had slipped into “complete lawlessness and goonda raj”.

Home Minister Amit Shah later tweeted: “Bengal has descended into an era of tyranny, anarchy and darkness under the Trinamool rule.”

Mukul Roy, national vice-president of BJP, said: “It was a planned attack on Naddaji’s convoy and we all bore the brunt and sustained injuries. By the grace of God Naddaji was saved as he was travelling in a bullet-proof car.”

Meanwhile the Bengal government refused to comply with a Home Ministry summons to the Chief Secretary Alapan Bandopadhyay and Director General of Police Virendra to present themselves to give their clarifications to it regarding the incident.

It needs to be stated that, in view of the elections in Bengal next year, the BJP is regularly sending its top leaders to the state to garner support for the coming Assembly election as the BJP has never tasted power there. Last month, Home Minister Amit Shah was in the state and had met the Matua tribal leaders near Kolkata. He had also paid floral tributes to the statue of tribal leader Birsa Munda. He is once again scheduled to visit Bengal on December 19.
